PJD Guitars was founded in 2010 by Leigh Dovey. The name PJD is dedicated to the memory of Leigh’s late father, who was a prop maker for the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden.
Leigh started working with knowledge of woodworking picked up from his father and was fortunate enough to inherit his tools, along with a small home workshop. He spent his days working as a sound and video engineer at the Royal Opera House, and his evenings honing his craft in guitar building. Early opportunities to work with respected artists helped build the confidence to refine his approach and develop his own style.
In 2017, the business moved to York into a larger workshop. Since then, Leigh has continued to focus on building instruments with a clear identity, shaped by craftsmanship, playability, and a strong attention to detail.
PJD Guitars continues to grow, bringing its range of electric guitars to musicians around the world while staying true to its original approach.
The Origin Series represents the new introduction of PJD Guitars. Designed with the same attention to detail and player-focused approach, the Origin Series brings together a collection of electric guitars built for consistency, balance, and everyday use.
Each model is developed around familiar body styles, refined through subtle adjustments to proportion, weight, and feel. The result is a range that sits comfortably in the hands, responds predictably, and maintains clarity across a wide range of playing styles.
The Origin Series is built with a clear focus on usability. From clean tones through to more driven sounds, the guitars are designed to remain controlled, articulate, and reliable. Every element works together to create a playing experience that feels natural without unnecessary complexity.
As PJD Guitars continues to expand in Australia, the Origin Series sets the standard for what players can expect. A considered approach to electric guitar design, built around feel, function, and long-term performance.
